If you've opened up any fall-inspired magazine issues recently, you've undoubtedly seen what I like to call the "shag vest" in a number of ads or pictorials.
Jennifer Lopez was recently spotted sporting one while walking around NYC with gal-pal Erica Reid. Lopez wore the vest over a slouchy white tee and skinny black pants,
paired with classic pointed-toe stilettos. She then removed the vest and
swapped her heals for flats for a more casual, easy-going look. (Or was it the other way around? Not sure.)
Swapping out statement pieces to transition from dressy to casual (and back again) is a classic

I actually really like the faux-fur shag vest but it all depends on where I'd be going. It's cute, trendy, and adds some sass to an outfit, as seen on the pics above, but I definitely would not wear that going to the bodega lol.
